Day 23: No.49 Jyodo-ji (浄土寺)

The main gate of No.49 Jyodo-ji

One of the best Nio-statue I’ve seen during my Shikoku Henro Pilgrimage

Since I lost the henro route to Jyodo-ji, I was walking according to the guidance of Google map. Then I eventually came across Takanoko Hotel which I will stay today, so I decided to check in first. It is still before 3 p.m, so if I leave my heavy backpack here and hurry up a bit, then I think I should be able to visit No.50 Hanta-ji and No.51 Ishide-ji, in addition to No.49 Jyodo-ji.

The precincts of Jyodo-ji

The main temple of No.49 Jyodo-ji

At Jyodo-ji, what caught my attention was the wide wooden main temple. Probably I have not seen this type of main temple before. Then, I found the old man again (He’s in the above picture). He told me he was going to the Takanoko Hotel after this temple as he told me this morning.

The blue sky makes the buildings of the temple stand out and look really beautiful.

Taishi-do

It’s pity that the visit to Jyodo-ji in the end was a bit uncomfortable, because a lot of old ladies from the tour came and they were quite noisy…
