Day 5: No.18 Onzan-ji (恩山寺)

The main gate of No.18 Onzan-ji seems very old

Interesting stone monument

I walked a lot yesterday and walked more than 10 Km today, so I’m tired already, but I have to climb up a bit to reach No.18 Onzan-ji after seeing this main gate… phew

Finally arrived at No.18 Onzan-ji

It’s still early in the morning, and there’re no pilgrims around. I now noticed that I prefer to pay a visit to a temple in such a quiet atmosphere. On the other hand, without other pilgrims, I still have a lot of trouble to read Heart Sutra smoothly 😉 It has some specific rhythm and intonation , but I could not remember it yet… I should learn it.

The Daishi-do of No.18 Onzan-ji

While getting the temple stamp, the old lady at the Nokyo-jyo worried about me because of the recent cold weather. I replied that it’s rather nice to walk in such chilly but fine weather. She seems to be pretty happy that there’re still walking pilgrims like me even in this season.

By the way, I’m bit surprised that my lip is chapped due to unexpected sunburn, and it started to sores a bit. It was a right decision that I bought a lip cream when I bought some food for my breakfast at a convenience store.
